Operation Desert Storm
(Jan. 17, 1991)
Operation Desert Storm is likely the most well-known operation of the entire war. Because of highly advanced weapons, strategies, and the weakening of the army from Operation Desert Shield, this mission was an easy success. Although Coalition troops still did not enter into Kuwait, Heavy air attacks decimated the Iraqi military by taking out troops, tanks, aircraft, anti-aircraft missiles, and SCUD missiles.

The latest technology including Stealth Bombers, Cruise Missiles, and Smart Bombs were all used in order to achieve the greatest advantage possible. Iraqi forces were either destroyed or surrendered immediately due to the absolute dominance of the Coalition. Iraqi forces attempted to retaliate by firing SCUD missiles into Israel. This was primarily meant to provoke Israel to go to war. This would assure Hussein the backing of other Arab nations. However, President Bush convinced the Israeli leader not to declare war. This constant raid on Iraqi soldiers almost ensured a victory in the Persian Gulf War.
